Our Lemon supply, whether from Italy or Spain, comes from sustainable supply chains that incorporate responsible and fair agricultural production models. In Sicily, since 2022 we have been supporting the production and certification of an Organic and Fair Trade Lemon essential oil, with the creation of a specific development fund for associated and certified producers. In Spain, we support a certified organic lemon production program in the Murcia region.
The Citrus Limon, a variety resulting from a hybridization between the bitter orange tree and the citron tree, is a lemon grown in the Mediterranean region. Lemon production is spread over coastal areas, where the soils and microclimate allow for a mild temperate climate.
Thanks to the cold expression process, each harvested lemon finds a complete valorization. The pulp is transformed into concentrated juice, part of the rind reveals the essential oil, while the other is intended for the manufacture of candied lemons. The skins from the processing stages are then recovered and recovered into pectin or biogas, as part of a logic of valorization of products and co-products from the entire sector.
